Don Havey is a self-taught programmer with a background in architecture and design. His work explores the overlaps between digital and physical art and architectures, often using code as both theme and medium.
Don is a founding partner at PERCH, a design studio in Portland, Maine, where he is in charge of web application development. He teaches the Programming for Artists & Designers course—an introduction to using code to create generative and interactive artwork—for the Continuing Studies department at MECA and, previously, the Introduction to Web Design course. He occasionally posts sketches to Open Processing.
Don graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005 with a degree in Architecture and a minor in Industrial Design. He enjoys wandering around Portland by starting at a lamppost, taking steps of equal length and random direction, and finding that while his average rate of progress is zero, his distance from the lamppost nevertheless increases.
